The Story Behind Place46

Hello, I'm Andre

I'm the founder of Place46.

Discovering the world from a screen

I love traveling and discovering new places. But long before I visit a city in person, I often discover it from my screen — exploring cities and destinations with Google Maps, wandering through streets and looking for places worth discovering.

Whenever I discovered a place that looked special, I saved it.

Over time, I collected hundreds of places I wanted to visit: beautiful viewpoints, interesting neighborhoods, historic sites, restaurants, hidden gems and places that simply looked worth going to.

Then I realized something

Finding beautiful places is easy.
Finding the places that are actually worth going to is much harder.

A place can look amazing in photos and still be disappointing. Even a 4.6+ rating doesn't necessarily mean it's worth your time.

And when you're planning a trip, you don't want to spend hours sorting through thousands of possibilities just to find the few places that are truly worth your time.

I wanted a better way.

So I created my own approach

I wanted to find a way to distinguish places that are genuinely outstanding from those that simply have a good rating.

So I developed my own scoring system — a formula that takes both a place's rating and the number of reviews into account.

I set a clear benchmark: 4.6+ stars and at least 3,000 reviews. This creates a strong foundation of real experiences behind every place I select.

And that's how Place46 was born

Place46 is the result of years of digital exploration and a simple idea:

Don't list everything.
Find the places worth going to.

Every place on Place46 is selected with that goal in mind.

Because discovering the world should be exciting.
Choosing where to go shouldn't be difficult.
